I’ve always been a believer in events happening by chance, through a higher power and for a true purpose. I’ve always trusted my gut instinct when things got tough, and decisions got difficult. Some might say I believed in moments that are serendipitous.
Because of my strong gut instincts, I possess much empathy for people around me. After high school, I attended Central Michigan University to study psychology, so I could better understand others and their difficulties. After a semester of studying psychology, I was introduced to Integrative Public Relations. I learned how to start leadership programs, plan events, advocate for people through media outlets, write stories and much more. I found my passion in PR and switched my major.
I graduated from CMU with a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Integrative Public Relations (IPR) with two minors in Applied Business Communication and Leadership. Which, I suppose, is what brought me here.
After graduating in March 2022, I took some time to myself while keeping an eye out for my next career opportunity. I applied for many jobs during this time. I came across Serendipity Media on LinkedIn and being someone who is fond of the Grand Rapids Area, I applied for the role of Marketing Coordinator.
I received a lot of inquiries about my applications and had a few interviews for a few different organizations. One of these was Serendipity Media. For the longest time I told myself that I was going to start my career in a corporate position, so at the time, Serendipity was not necessarily my first choice. I decided to keep my mind open and go through with an interview and wow am I glad I did.
I felt that during my interview I instantly connected with the culture of the organization and the people there. I found out that the person interviewing me was friends with a life-long mentor of mine. What are the chances? For the first time, in a long time, I felt secure, confident and good about the role that was being offered. I decided to follow my gut instinct, just like I did when I chose CMU, IPR, and Grand Rapids and I chose Serendipity.
